I have to thank my parents for always making Christmas a magical time for me. We’d drive around to look at Christmas lights, and there was always an abundance of hot chocolate and made-from-scratch cookies. My mom, aunt, sister and I still get together once a year to plan a big cookie day so that we have enough sweets for various treat packs we deliver to our friends and colleagues.
Since meeting Chris, I’ve now added another holiday tradition, the Candlelight Walk, an event where the whole town meets in old town Golden and sing carols as they walk towards the river with candles. Once everyone has gathered by the bridge, they ceremoniously light up the river in a dazzling display of lights. Pretty trees wrapped in lights, and often dusted with a little snow, truly kicks off the holiday season.
I hope to instill the same magic of the holiday season with the little miss. I remember these traditions quite fondly and I hope she does too.
And while she doesn’t quite understand the concept of Christmas quite yet, she had a great time seeing all of the family and showing off her crawling and sitting up skills. She also loves playing with all of her new toys.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and best wishes for the New Year!
